WhatsApp messenger is a great and extremely popular social platform but lacks the ability to share anything other than audio, video or photograph. Still it trans codes what you send that may degrade quality But with Whats Packed you can share any no of files of any type over WhatsApp

Here's how it works:

Sending:
  • All you need to do is choose your file and the whats app contact.
  • You can choose file using WhatsApp->audio , app's main screen or from any file browser or app that has option to share file
  • The application then packs the file into an audio file and sends it off to the person you chose.
Receiving:
  • The receiver gets the audio file and WhatsPacked automatically detects it and generates a notification.
  • The receiver clicks the notification and is led to the received file. On the other hand you can see the received files anytime from the main screen.

How to install incompatible apps or region-restricted apps on Android

If you want to download a great new game or cool new streaming service, but discover the app is incompatible with your device or not available in your country, it's not necessarily time to give up. One of the best things about Android is that there's always a way to get what you want. So today, we'll show you how to install incompatible apps on Android using a couple of great little tools.

How to install region-restricted apps

I first came across TunnelBear on a recent trip to China where I was using it as a VPN. It was great for that purpose, but I also realized it could also be used to bypass incompatible apps. Here's how:
AndroidPIT Nexus 6P tunnel bear vpn
Dive in and away we go!
1. Download TunnelBear from the Play Store.
TunnelBear VPN Install on Google Play 2. Launch the app and create an account.
3. You'll see the switch to turn TunnelBear on and a map of the world. Simply tap a tunnel anywhere on the globe and wait for the bear to tunnel its way there.
AndroidPIT TunnelBear VPN
Once that bear gets in a tunnel, there's no telling where he'll pop up.
4. If you get a connection request, agree to it.
5. Once the bear has tunneled to your new VPN location, you can go grab that app you were after.
Say I wanted Hulu in Germany, where it isn't possible to install the app. I can simply tell TunnelBear that I'm in the US, and I'll be able to download Hulu. You still might not be able to find apps by searching directly in the Play Store, but searching for the app name and “play store” in Chrome should bring up the app link. You'll now be able to click that link and download and install the app.
Note that you may need to keep the VPN running in order to access content in region-restricted apps and that not all apps will work outside their regions. If the app still says it's not available in your country, clear the cache for the Play Store in Settings > Apps > Google Play Store and try again.
AndroidPIT install hulu region restriction
Before and after: region-locked and free to install.

How to install incompatible Android apps

Market Helper is the app you need when you want to install an app that isn't compatible with your device. Assuming you have a rooted Android phone, all you need to do is enable Unknown sources in your security settings and then download Market Helper from the creator's website. For obvious reasons, the app isn't available in the Play Store so make sure you only download it from a reliable source.
1. Launch Market Helper.
2. You'll see four drop-down boxes: device type, device model, location and carrier. These will be auto-filled to match the details of your device. You can change this to a different type and model, according to the app you want to download – so if you want to download a tablet-only app to your phone, you can select a tablet model from the drop-down menus and register it as a 'new' device. The device selection may not be huge, but generally any model for the device category you need is fine.
AnddoridPIT Market Helper select device and carrier
Pick your device category, region and carrier (if necessary).
3. Select a device type.
4. Select a device model.
5. Select a region.
6. Select a carrier.
7. Tap Activate at the bottom of the screen and agree to the superuser request when it pops up. You might also have to agree to certain app permissions depending on which version of Android you're running.
AndroidPIT Market Helper register nvidia shield
Allow superuser permissions and your 'new' device will be registered.
8. You'll see an “Activated successfully” message. Head to Device Manager and once you see your new device showing up, you can hit the Play Store and download that app you want. As above, if you have issues with the Play Store, try clearing the cache or just grab the app through Chrome search results.
Note: When you want to change back, simply go back to Market Helper and return to the default settings, or reboot your phone.
AndroidPIT Market Helper restore default device
You can revert back at any time. See how we're now a Nexus 5 again?
Not all apps will work properly with your device just because you tricked the Play Store into downloading them. It's still possible that strange things will happen due to the difference in screen resolution or aspect ratio, or the app may not work at all.

What apps have you downloaded using these methods? Do you have any other tips to share?

Here's how to get free Wi-Fi anywhere

Wi-Fi has pretty much become a basic human right. When a friend doesn't have a Wi-Fi connection at his house we tend to visit less, when our Wi-Fi drops at home we're outraged, and we certainly wouldn't stop for a coffee at a cafe that doesn't have Wi-Fi. But you know what's even better than Wi-Fi? Free Wi-Fi. Here's how to get free Wi-Fi wherever you go.

Ask a friendly stranger

The number of times I've had a friendly stranger simply give me a Wi-Fi password, whether they're using Wi-Fi at a cafe or they work at one, is incredible. Considering many places like you to pay for Wi-Fi, people seem to be pretty free-and-easy with the passwords. Other times they're written on a chalkboard or on a piece of paper at the till, so use your eyes, put on a big smile and charm your way to free Wi-Fi.

"Say cheese! Now, if only I had Wi-Fi to email you the picture...

Pool resources with WeFi

WeFi is a great app that automatically connects you to any free Wi-Fi in your area, based on the combined resources of millions of users just like you, who know that where there's numbers, there's strength. With over seven million downloads and hundreds of millions of hotspots, WeFi is sure to have coverage right where you are.
WeFi Pro - Automatic Wi-Fi Install on Google Play

Use your scanner

Your Android will already tell you if a Wi-Fi connection is secured or not. And thankfully not everyone is as savvy about protecting their internet connection as you are about borrowing it. Just go to Settings > Wi-Fi and look for connections that are labeled 'open' or 'unsecured' and connect.
AndroidPIT Galaxy Note 4 TouchWiz Wi Fi network connections
Even the Android system wants you to have access to free Wi-Fi.

Go to Starbucks or McDonalds

It doesn't take a genius to know that certain major chains use free Wi-Fi as a carrot to entice customers in. Just as the free restrooms at McDonalds cause plenty of people to swing by in times of need and stick around for some fries, so too does free Wi-Fi. It almost makes up for paying six bucks for a Starbucks coffee.

Join a community

Instabridge is a great little app where crowd-sourced Wi-Fi connections and passwords are compiled into a network of millions. The best thing is that it also includes secured connections, so as long as one person paid for that overpriced latte, everyone with the app can enjoy the connection.

Pay attention at the mall

Every time I head to an Android event I invariably have SIM cards, data plans and calling cards thrust into my palm. Often, one of those many freebies is a Wi-Fi card that allows you an hour or two of free Wi-Fi access to a big mobile or internet provider. The same things are regularly handed out as promotional items at malls and shopping centres, so keep your eyes peeled.

Swing by a hotel

This one feels a little cheeky, but the front desk staff at many hotels have no idea whether you are staying at their establishment or not, so if you casually stroll up and ask for the Wi-Fi passwords, more often than not they will happily hand you a slip of paper and you're on your way. Just cross your fingers that they don't ask for your room card.
hotel apps teaser
Hotels and tourist spots always have free Wi-Fi.

Spoof your MAC address

Because timed free Wi-Fi connections are simply based on the MAC address of your device, it's not terribly difficult to spoof that address and score some more free minutes. This one is a little more involved than some others, but if you know how to do it it's a great technique to have in your free Wi-Fi toolkit.

Hit the library

If you live near a library or take your lunch near one, you can always pick up free Wi-Fi for a limited time at the good old book depository. Again, you may need to stroll in and grab a slip of paper, but sometimes the Wi-Fi password is written up on the wall for all to see and use.
books 1 teaser AndroidPIT
Libraries not only have free Wi-Fi, you can also learn something there.

Use your friends

Even if you're too cheap to pay for a bigger data plan, your friends might not be. You can often tether your phone to a friend's device for long enough to check your WhatsApp or send an email. Just don't go watching Vines for half an hour or you might find yourself with one less friend in the world.

Check your cable subscription

Some of the big cable networks also provide Wi-Fi access a freebie in their subscription deals. Take a look at your fine print or call customer service to find out if you have any data access included in your subscription. This is not technically free, but if you never knew you had access to hotspots across the city, it's the next best thing.

Some cable companies provide free access to Wi-Fi networks.

Give and take

Rather than endlessly sucking up other people's Wi-Fi connections, you can take a slightly more give and take approach and share your Wi-Fi hotspot (at home or work, for example) in exchange for other people's. Simply share your details, log in and be prepared to return the favor when you have Wi-Fi access of your own.

6 ways to make the Moto G (2015) battery last longer

The Moto G (2015) is an excellent phone, and its battery life is pretty good too – but if you’re a demanding user, there’s always room for improvement. If your G is running out of puff before you run out of day, these Moto G (2015) battery tips will help.
Moto G 2015 hero 1
That big, bright screen is brilliant, but turning it down boosts battery life.

1. Make it darker

The biggest drain on any big phone’s battery is its screen, and the brighter it is, the more power it will use. We find that manufacturers’ ideas of normal brightness tend to be a little brighter than ours, especially in low light situations, and Motorola is no exception. Turning the Moto G's display brightness down a bit can deliver a nice battery life boost. It’s worth reducing how long your screen is on, too: if it’s constantly flashing up notifications or you leave it sitting with the screen on while you do something else, you’re using power you don’t need to be using.

2. Turn stuff off

Individual features might not use much battery, but when you add them all together, they make a surprisingly large dent in your battery life. If you don’t need Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Location Services or GPS, turning them off will reduce the load on your Moto G. If you don’t need it to connect at all, put the phone in Airplane Mode or just switch it off.

3. Disconnect your apps

Some apps regularly demand data while running in the background, and collectively they can use plenty of power. If you go into Settings > Battery Settings you can enable Battery Saver, which automatically disconnects background refreshing apps when battery power is below 25 percent.
motorola moto g 2015 appdrawer
Some apps automatically refresh themselves in the background, which of course uses power.

4. Don’t wake up Wi-Fi

The Moto G has another useful setting, this time in Settings > Wi-Fi. If you tap on Advanced, you’ll see several options to reduce Wi-Fi activity on your device. You can disable Wi-Fi when your device sleeps, or restrict it so it’s only on if your device is plugged in – although beware, because if your device isn’t in Airplane Mode then apps that demand data will use the cellular data network instead, which could have implications for both battery life and your bank balance if you’re on a capped contract.
You can also disable Wi-Fi scanning, which constantly looks for new networks, but don’t switch off Wi-Fi Optimization: this is designed to analyze what your device is doing and reduce Wi-Fi power consumption when you don’t need it.

5. Disable auto-uploads

Many apps automatically upload things to the internet, and that’s generally a good thing: it’s nice to have your photos stored without having to do it manually, to have files synced between all your different devices and to have backups in the event of disaster.
But all these things require processing power and internet access, and that combination can mean your phone is working harder than you need it to. If you can live without automatic uploading from your favorite apps and services, you’ll see a significant increase in battery life.
Moto G 2015 hero 1 5
Some photo apps can automatically upload every pic, but that wastes battery power.

6. Investigate Google Play Services

If your trusty phone is suddenly suffering from terrible battery life, the culprit could be Google Play Services. For many apps it’s the key to the world of Google: it delivers your Gmail to mail apps, maps and location settings to mapping apps and so on, and it delivers ads to ad-based apps too.
The easy way to tell if Google Play Services is draining the battery of your Moto G (2015) is to pop into Settings > Battery. This shows you the biggest power hogs, and in most cases you should see the screen listed at number one – which makes sense, as it’s the most power hungry part of your device. If Google Play Services is using more power than the display or the Android system itself, something’s wrong.
There are several possible reasons that this could be happening. If you’re using multiple accounts then Google Play Services is making multiple connections to do the same things for each account. A third-party app might have a bug that’s causing it to use Play Services badly, or there could be sync errors with Google’s services. If you’re running task killer or security apps, try disabling them to see if the problem goes away. They’re known causes of Google Play Services problems.

Fitbit vs Garmin fitness tracker comparison: who offers what?

Fitbit makes six fitness trackers: the Fitbit Zip, the Fitbit One, the Fitbit Flex, the Fitbit Charge and Charge HR, and the Fitbit Surge. We’ve listed them from cheapest to most expensive: the Zip is £49.99 (US$76) and the Surge £199.99 (US$305). The Zip is a simple clip-on tracker, the Surge a fully-featured fitness smartwatch, and the other Fitbits become increasingly capable as the prices go up.

Garmin’s range is smaller, with just three product lines: Vivofit 2, Vivosmart and Vivoactive. The Vivofit is an activity tracking band, the Vivosmart is much the same but with notifications, and the Vivoactive is a smartwatch with built-in GPS. The Vivofit starts at US$99.99, the Vivosmart, US$149.99, and the Vivoactive, US$249.99. Garmin also offers a range of sport-focused smartwatches including the US$349.99 Forerunner 620 and the US$599.99 Fenix 3 Sapphire.

There aren’t direct rivals across the ranges, but there are three points where the trackers from each firm are pretty similar: the US$99 Fitbit Flex and Vivofit 2 are very similar, as are the US$150 Charge HR and Vivosmart, and the US$250 Surge and Vivoactive. Let’s see how they compare.

Fitbit Flex vs Garmin Vivofit 2 comparison

The most obvious difference between these two fitness trackers is their displays. Where the Flex makes do with a row of round LEDs, the Vivofit has a backlit display showing steps and a 'move bar' to track your progress. The Fitbit’s rechargeable battery is good for around five days between charges, while the replaceable battery in the Vivofit 2 should last you a year.
Both wearables track steps, distance, calories burned, active minutes and sleep, but the Vivofit also tracks your heart rate. The Fitbit is the more fashionable-looking device but the Vivovit 2’s heart rate sensor and long battery life give it the edge here.

Fitbit Charge HR vs Garmin Vivosmart comparison

The Vivosmart takes the features of the Vivofit and adds a few more useful ones: vibration alerts, a touchscreen display, music player controls and, in the HR edition, heart rate tracking and floors climbed. The Fitbit Charge HR does heart rate tracking too and has a caller ID feature for your phone, but its display is a tiny non-touchscreen.
Both devices are rechargeable, with Fitbit claiming five days between charges and Garmin seven. Once again the Fitbit is the cuter device but the Garmin has the more impressive specs.

Fitbit Surge vs Garmin Vivoactive

We’re in smartwatch territory now. The Fitbit Surge is a “fitness super watch” with GPS, music control and sleep tracking, with a seven-day battery and a range of colors. The Vivoactive promises to last three weeks between charges (but only 10 hours if you’re using GPS) and comes in black or white.
It comes with pre-installed fitness apps and is customizable in an Android Wear kind of way via the Connect IQ store, but it lacks the heart rate monitoring of its siblings. It is HR monitor compatible, but the monitor is sold separately. If you’re looking for a heart rate monitoring smartwatch the Fitbit is the better buy here, but if you want an all-round sporty smartwatch, the Garmin’s hard to beat.

Fitbit vs Garmin fitness tracker comparison: verdict

While Fitbit and Garmin offer devices that do similar things, they’re pitched at different markets. The Fitbit emphasises the fun, fashionable side of wearables, while the Garmins take themselves a little more seriously. Both product ranges have devices to suit most requirements, although Fitbit offers more options, with six kinds of tracker compared with Garmin’s three.
If you want a cheap and cheerful tracker you’ll probably find the basic Fitbits perfectly up to the job, but if you want an all-singing, all-dancing smartwatch you might find the Garmin has the edge, although we’d strongly recommend you check out the latest Android Wear watches too. How long before smartwatches do to stand-alone fitness trackers what smartphones did to sat nav? Not long, we reckon.
